This course builds on our basic course on “Introduction to R” in which we only introduced functions for making basic plots. In this course, we take you a step further and introduce you to essential elements of “message conveying and nice looking graphics”.
The course will run for three afternoons (13h to 17h) on the 10th, 11th and 12th of June 2020 and will include the following topics:
- How to use basic plotting functions
- Plotting multivariate data using the lattice package.
- Using the ggplot2 package for general purpose graphics
- Using plotly for interactive graphics

*Note for UGent doctoral students: the course has been submitted for recognition to the UGent Doctoral Schools. Subject to approval, they can apply for reimbursement through an application of recognition with the UGent Doctoral Schools. Doctoral students from other Flemish universities can be reimbursed by FLAMES upon complete attendance.
**Because of the coronavirus crisis, we will deliver this course through tele-teaching. We are hereby offering a 20% reduction in the course fee. Other academics will now pay €120 in place of €150, those from Non-profit organisations will pay €200 instead of €250 and those from the public and private sector will only pay €400 instead of €500.


Knowledge of basic statistical concepts and some experience with R software is considered an advantage.
