As a beginning qualitative researcher you may experience particular challenges. You may experience difficulties in developing your research question, selecting your research design, developing strategies for data collection and analysis, or recruiting participants.

This seminar entails an intervision between PhD students who are in an early stage of their research. It gives students the opportunity to present their own PhD and discuss the encountered challenges with peers. Each participating student will be asked to give a short presentation of 10 minutes about their research project including the faced challenges. This will be followed by a group-wide discussion about these challenges. The intervision will be moderated by 2 FLAMES coordinators with expertise in the qualitative research domain.

Given the focused and intensive nature of the discussions, a maximum of 10 PhD students will be allowed to participate in this seminar. Participants will be asked to send the two moderators maximum three specific challenges by email before the start of this seminar. These challenges should be sent before the 3rd of April, to and Based upon this input, the students will be divided in two groups: a morning slot (9-12h) and afternoon slot (13-17h).

It is important to stress that this seminar is intended for PhD students who are at an early stage of their research.
This is an interactive session, please only register for this seminar if you have a strong commitment to participate actively and think about your colleagues’ challenges as well.
