This is a 3-day practical introduction to SPSS for basic data analysis with the following topics planned:
• Exploring the SPSS user interface
• Getting help in SPSS
• Importing and exporting data
• Data management routines
• Basic exploratory analysis: descriptive statistics and graphics
• Basic regression modeling: model building and diagnostics
After the course you should be able to
• Understand and navigate the SPSS interface/menus
• Import data into SPSS /export data to other platforms
• Clean and manipulate data
• Explore and visualize data
• Perform basic statistical analysis
o Analysis of Variance
o Linear regression
o Logistic regression
The computers in the PC class have SPSS installed and will be accessed through the UGent athena platformed. Access arrangements will be made for those from outside Ghent University.

*UGent doctoral students can apply for reimbursement through an application of recognition with the UGent Doctoral Schools. Doctoral students from other Flemish universities can be reimbursed by FLAMES upon complete attendance.
**Because of the coronavirus crisis, we will deliver this course through tele-teaching. We are hereby offering a 20% reduction in the course fee. Other academics will now pay €120 in place of €150, those from Non-profit organisations will pay €200 instead of €250 and those from the public and private sector will only pay €400 instead of €500.
Knowledge of basic statistical concepts and experience with other programming languages are considered advantageous, but not required for this introduction to data analysis with SPSS.
